SEASON ENDS WITH 439 BIRDS!

Great weather patterns last fall kept fresh birds moving throughout the season.  It ended with an overall average of 8.8 birds taken per day.  There were a few slower days, but none that left us  empty-handed.  The total for the year was 427 ducks and 12 geese harvested.  We lost 35 ducks  which put us at a 92% recovery rate for the season.  We shot 18 different species with 70% being puddle ducks/geese, and 30% divers.  There were several great shots made with a few spectacular misses (you know who you are).  Over 25 birds headed for the taxidermist, including beautiful specimens of canvasbacks, redheads, buffleheads, pintails, mallards and a few others.
Season highlights:  banded drake wigeon; 4 full plumage bull pintails with 5 to 6” sprigs!

CHANGES IN THE WIND

Most of you are aware by now that we are purchasing the Grandview Motel in Ferryville and will officially be residing there starting February 1st.  I’m currently in the process of revamping part of the interior of my boat and will be able to expand an additional 2 ½ feet which will provide more comfort and convenience.

The fee for repeat clients will continue to be $135/day per person.  Due to increased expenses I will no longer offer a discount rate for a party of 3 or 4.  As always a party of 3 reserves the boat with no additional hunters being added.  The new client rate for bookings after January 1, 2006 will be $145/day per person.  I apologize up front for the small increase and any inconvenience this may cause, but I promise to continue to provide you with the best service possible as I strive to improve every year.

THANKS TO ALL

I want to sincerely thank my clients, friends, and family for making the 2005 hunting season a  safe and successful one.  I truly enjoyed the time spent in the blind and forming new friendships.  I’m looking forward to hunting with most of you again next fall, and welcoming aboard all new clients.  “Let’s hope the 2006 season is filled with good days and great memories.”   Please be sure to share this first-ever SEASON REVIEW NEWSLETTER with the other members of your hunting group.  I wish everyone a very Happy New Year --  we’ll see you when the ducks are flying once again!
